Arkoma took the lead by scoring eight runs in the top of the third inning and the Mustangs went on to defeat Heavener, 14-5, Friday.
Both teams only had four hits. Arkoma had five errors and Heavener finished with four.
The difference was four Heavener pitchers issued 13 walks while Arkoma only walked four Heavener batters.
Cade Weatherton got the win for Arkoma with relief help from Easton Smith. Weatherton pitched five innings, giving up four hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out seven and walking three. Smith pitched the final inning and allowed one unearned run and walked one batter.
Zane Dewitt got the start for Heavener. He pitched 2.1 innings, giving up three hits and five runs, all earned, while striking out five and walking three. Kyler Terry pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed one hit and four runs with four walks.
Elijah Dewbre threw 1.2 innings without allowing a hit. He did give up two runs with a pair of strikeouts and two walks. Jaron Watkins pitched the final 1.1 innings and did not allow a hit but gave up three runs with three strikeouts and four walks.
Smith doubled for Arkoma and was 1-1 with two RBI and two runs while Brett Chambers went 1-4 with four RBI and a run.
Hunter Edmondson was 2-3 with two runs for Heavener and Brandon Crase doubled while going 1-3 with a run.
Both teams are in the LeFlore County Tournament Monday.
