VALLIANT – Heavener dropped a pair of District 3A-2 baseball games at Valliant Saturday.
The Wolves lost the opener, 10-2, before Valliant completed the sweep with a 12-0 win.
Heavener is 2-11 overall, 0-6 in district plays and visits Antlers Tuesday for another district doubleheader. Valliant is 6-5 and 4-0 in the district, tied with Spiro for the lead.
In the opener, Heavener led 2-0 after the top of the inning before Valliant got its bats going. The Bulldogs finished off the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the run-rule win.
Noah Ward went the first 3.2 innings, giving up five hits and five runs, three earned, with two strikeouts and a walk. Jackson Clubb went the final 1.2 innings, allowing seven hits and five runs with five walks.
Gunnar McAlester was 2-3 for the Wolves. Trevor Grubbs had Heavener’s other hit and was 1-3 with a RBI.
Valliant finished the second game off quick, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first, three in the second and three more in the third.
McAlester had the Wolves’ only hit. He pitched two innings and allowed six hits and nine runs, four earned, with two strikeouts and a walk. Bryce Early went two-thirds of an inning, giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and a walk.
